I say you are one in a billion because that is a low estimate of how many people on earth bite their nails.
Welcome to my site, and I know you will find some answers. I have written a book, Truth About Nail-Biting. It's available on Amazon, and all the buttons that say My Book on this website, will take you to Amazon. I love to hear other peoples stories on their nail biting journey. I just want to warn everyone who joins in that I do have sense of humor when it comes to biting and I have no desire to insult any one. All I ask is, if someone else comments, and you have something to share please do not shame them. One truth is I am a biter not a writer. I am a true believer that we all have a perfect hands despite the condition of our nails. If you can do what you need to do with your fingers than that is perfect. One of my deep desires is to eradicate nail biting. I would love to hear your view on that one. Do you believe nail biting can be eradicated from human behavior.? I know in my heart to succeed with eradication, I need to teach parents how to help their child take care of their hands. I may call my next book, "Stop it, Before it Starts". I am sure that title will change before I am done. I worked especially hard to understand why we bite? The bigger question is, Why do I feel the urge to put my hands in my mouth, esp. since I no longer bite my nails? Why would I want to go back and bite my nails? I laugh because we all have been told for so long that anxiety is the cause of nail biting. I for one never really believed that but, why not? I could not for the life of me keep my hand out of my mouth so maybe they were correct and I am or was anxious, I was a child and who was I to question authority. My nails as a child were a mess. I now understand why this happened and will start to share what I have learned in another post. It's 2018 and 50% of the 8 to 18 year old's bite their nails. My main goal is to change that number to a single digit. Love to hear from you! Thanks Audrey, Your Oral Manicurist. (retired)
